The original goal was to train artists and create a new portfolio piece, this time focusing on something we hadn’t done before: a large-scale outdoor environment with a fantasy setting.
The pre-production was the result of a simultaneous collaboration between departments, where ideas evolved through continuous exchange between design and 3D. The process began with diorama sketches, which inspired the 3D artists to build initial modules and blockouts. These then served as a base for concept overpaints, helping to refine the visual direction as the project took shape.
What started as a training project became a collaborative exploration of scale, atmosphere and storytelling, and a reflection of our team’s passion for crafting believable worlds.
Eldergrove 3D environment is closely related to its concept, which was also published on ArtStation. Check it out below and enjoy!
